Day Two
Well it is Oct 19 in Cambodia and very hot. Today we had a bit of a relaxed day to try and recover from the long travels and to prepare for the week ahead. We went to Church at the World Vision Headquarters (International Christian Assembly). Then we went for lunch with Marie Ens and her son. The food is great so far. Then later in the day we went on a river boat down the Mekong River and then for a stroll along the river. We had the amazing experience of crossing a road and for some of us (who did not go to Vietnam) saw our lives flash before us. It's true they all just drive around you. Then we road a Tuk Tuk back to our hotel. A lady on the street offered to sell her young infant to Jana, so needless to say, we had some discussions about that after supper. Cambodians are very friendly and giggle when you try to speak their language. Tomorrow we have a very early morning. Off at 7:30 to the Kendal Prison and then to the Killing Fields. That's it for tonight - see you tomorrow, same place, same time. Happy Blogging.

Ya, dad told me about the whole crossing the street thing - freaky!
O.k. Justin you need to fill the rest of us in on what happened about crossing the street!!!
Brent...Craig is on his way, his flight left Saturday. How's the foot?
Crossing the road....
On a busy street with traffic going to ways (imagine it is constant with no breaks lots of little cars and trucks and about 50% motor bikes some just with people on them and some loaded with everything from the fridge to livestock - no kidding), what happens next is you just step off the curb into this entangled mess and at first the traffic whizzes by in front of you and your friend (you only go in small groups of one - three) then eventually instead of going in front of you, the traffic begins to go behind you. You then proceed to the next "lane" of traffic and they to go in front of you until there is no more room and then go behind you, as all the traffic follows closely in single file the scariest moments are when the drives are deciding to go in front or behind you. My dad has some fairly cool videos of this happening.
here is one I found on Youtube - it kinda illustates it - remember - NO TRAFFIC LIGHTS and GO SLOW!!!

Hope that answers the question.
Justin
So nervous drivers, like myself..... not a good idea!!! Thanks for the visual,
Holly
Oh yeah what happened to Craig?.... Don't worry I am sure no one will ever mock him about that....OK maybe once....once a day for the next 10 to 12 years that is.
I'm sure my mother (Jana) would have loved to have the child. It must have been hard for her to resist!
